asecos GmbH, experts in hazardous materials storage and handling, has enhanced the ION-LINE ULTRA safety cabinet for storing and charging lithium batteries with an intelligent upgrade: the safety cabinet is now optionally available with a presence sensor. The aim is to combine the highest level of safety with maximum user convenience.
The ULTRA, the premium model of the ION-LINE product range, meets the highest safety standards as the first, and so far only safety cabinet on the market for storing and charging lithium batteries, that is certified to VDMA 24994:2024-08 in Class I/O 90. In addition, the model has been designed and tested in accordance with the requirements of the GS test principle EK5/AK4 22-01. Based on this, and in the interest of explosion protection, the cabinet is equipped with an automatic door-closing mechanism. This ensures that the doors close automatically — from any position — immediately after each opening. This creates an additional layer of safety for users: the cabinet is always securely closed – even if someone forgets to shut the doors manually.
Convenient access thanks to sensor technology
With the integration of the presence sensor, the ULTRA now responds intelligently to the presence of users in the door area. The sensor detects people within the door’s swing range, enabling convenient access to the cabinet contents. The automatic door-closing mechanism and the associated acoustic warning signal are delayed for as long as necessary in day-to-day operations, to load or unload the cabinet. Once the user leaves the door area, the automatic door-closing function is reactivated.
The advantage: increased convenience, and the additional safety layer, provided by the automatic door-closing function, remains fully intact. This effectively combines the highest safety requirements with intelligent usability – without compromise.
